[2026 MLK GRANDE UNITY AWARDS GALA] Yesterday in Houston marked the night that the 2026 MLK Grande Unity Awards Gala celebrated the life, accomplishments, and legacy of black American civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who, if not assassinated on April 4^th, 1968, would have been 97 years old. Hosted by VEDA World News Partner and Entertainment Reporter Meochea "Me-Me" Money and Texas Representative Ron Reynolds, it was a night for the history books.

Every year across America, millions gather to remember the positive impact he has had on America. This year in Houston, Texas, it is no different. According to those in attendance of last night's MLK Grande Unity Awards Gala, it was a night that they would never forget as the night was filled with fellowship, food and drink, musical performances, a fashion show that featured international designers, several keynote speakers, and the handing out of awards throughout the night.

Attendees came dressed wearing their finest appeal and walked the red carpet and among them were some of Houston's favorites such as Houston's own musical legend "Mr. Houston" and the likes of Representative Al Green. Hugs, smiles, handshakes, excitement, and laughter filled the entire venue as it was held at The Collective, which is located at 12401 S Post Oak Rd, Houston, TX 77045. Last night's gala serves are the prelude to Houston's first MLK Grand Unity Day Parade, which will be held in downtown Houston. This year's MLK parade will be different in the aspect that instead of having three different MLK Day Parades, all three parades will be combined and held at the same time tomorrow, January 19^th, 2026.
