[Attorney Terry H. Penden] We had the opportunity to speak with Houston Attorney Terry H. Penden Esq. and one of the things that we really liked about him was the fact that he was exceptionally passionate about not only educating people on how to interface with law enforcement officers if and when they find themselves in the middle of a traffic stop or any other encounter; but he was also passionate about fighting for the civil rights of the people he serves. Although Black Americans make up roughly 13% of the population in America, Black Americans find themselves overrepresented in the Criminal Justice System. Attorney Penden is seeking to change that one case at a time.
During the course of this interview, he talked about his upbringing and what and who inspired him to go to Law School. Being a graduate of the Thurgood Marshall Law School at Texas Southern University, he spoke about how much TSU played a vital role in helping not only him, but others pass the Texas State Bar and obtain their licenses so that he and others could practice law in the state of Texas. From talking about how the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) needs to be reformed in more ways than one to pointing out some of the positive things that TDCJ has gotten right over its decades of operation, there was so much more than meets the eye when it comes to Attorney Penden.

Attorney Penden also talked about how personal discretion plays a role in how a Prosecutor executes their daily duties in the courtroom and what that could possibly mean for those that find themselves the target of a disgruntled Prosecutor. He also made it a point to touch on why the fourth amendment is so crucial and what citizens should know about the fourth amendment and how they should be aware of how easily their fourth amendment rights can be violated when dealing with some Law Enforcement Officers. With that, Attorney Penden also stressed that citizens should conduct themselves properly and how to do so when interfacing with Law Enforcement Officers.

This is an interview that you don’t want to miss as Attorney Penden talks about all these topics and more in depth.
