OPED: THE HOUSTON CHRON GOT IT WRONG WHEN IT CAME TO DWIGHT BOYKINS

[Houston Chron Dwight Boykins Faith Bugenhagen Alejandra Salinas Sallies Sargent] Recently there was an article written by journalist Faith Bugenhagen for the Houston Chron about Houston political candidate and former Houston City Council Member Dwight Boykins and what some are labeling “inappropriate comments” made towards Houston Attorney Alejandra Salinas, former President and CEO of the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee Sallies Sargent, and finally towards teens during a 2019 “Youth Advocate Summit”.
Regarding the comments made by Dwight Boykins toward teens who attended the 2019 Youth Advocate Summit, it was reported that he told the teens to “keep their legs closed” and utilized hypothetical real world dating situations where some males will intentionally lie and use flattery towards their female counterparts by telling them how they love them and how beautiful and sweet they are in order to have sex with them. It was reported that Dwight Boykins apologized for the misunderstood comments and informed those that may have taken issue with his words.
Then there was the complaint regarding the compliment that Dwight Boykins gave to Sallies Sargent. Sallies Sargent stated to her:
“Please do not take this as a disrespectful comment, but football tends to be a male sport, and as a female, to take this role at this level that you did, with all due respect, I was so impressed with you.”

One of the biggest things that’s missing in society today is the acceptance of masculine men and strong fathers, even more than that is the acceptance of masculine strong Black American fathers that will not mince their words for the petty comforts of others. Keep in mind that the role of a father or father figure is to prepare you for the real world. This is especially true given the fact that most children are raised in a household headed by women in this country. The truth of the matter is these teens should learn to keep their legs closed and by Dwight Boykins reinforcing that generally accepted moral position speaks to the high level of character and moral fortitude that Dwight Boykins possesses.
Looking at the second comment regarding Sallies Sargent, it is a true statement that American football is a male dominated sport and since it is so, it can be said and generally agreed upon that it is an impressive feat to see a woman spearheading an organization such as the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee. Not only did we and the public dislike the petty, twisted, morbid, and outlandishly fabricated complaints of people such as Houston Attorney Alejandra Salinas and Sallies Sargent for political gain; but we at VEDA World News, disliked the weak attempt to cause public embarrassment to a public figure without just cause. This is significantly exacerbated by the lack of intellectual honesty on behalf of Houston Chron journalist Faith Bugenhagen who wrote the article.
What was written about Dwight Boykins is tantamount to fake news and only provides more reason for people who are either suspicious or distrust the corporate news apparatus in it’s entirety.
