According to key stats, the Houston Dynamo took the offensive route throughout the entirety of the match, and this was demonstrated by them taking a whopping 18 shots, six shots landing on target, and seven shots off target. In contrast, the D.C. United took less than half of the total number of shots that the Dynamo took by taking seven shots, with three of the shots being off target, and only one-shot landing on target. When it came to blocked shots, the Houston Dynamo also led in the category with five shots blocked while the D.C. United blocked three of those shots.
The Houston Dynamo held possession of the ball for the majority of the match. possessing the ball 61% of the time and executing 515 passes with a pass accuracy rate of 94% put the Houston Dynamo well ahead of D.C.
