For many fans of the Houston Dynamo, it's about time, with the Houston Dynamo quenching the thirst of their fans by defeating  Minnesota United FC 2-0, the Houston Dynamo set the Shell Energy Stadium on fire last night. On a night of pure determination to win, the only question Houston Dynamo fans have is can they do it again with their next upcoming match-up with FC Dallas? All of Houston is hoping that they can. We stated that the Houston Dynamo demonstrated pure determination on the pitch to win last night’s game, and they did so by taking 20 shots to Minnesota United’s 7, with 6 shots on target to Minnesota’s 1.

 

The Houston Dynamo’s possessed the ball a whopping 68% of the time as Minnesota united possessed the ball a mere 32% of the time. With a staggering 544 successful passes and 490 accurate passes with an incredible ball passing accuracy rate of 90%; the Houston Dynamo outshined Minnesota united who had 259 total passes, with 202 accurate passes and a pass accuracy rate of 77%. Looking at other key stats, the Dynamo picked up 9 fouls to Minnesota United’s 14. Minnesota United also had 1 yellow card while the Houston Dynamo had 9 yellow cards. Neither team was issued a red card. Minnesota United had 0 big chances which left them with 0 big chances missed. The Dynamo on the other hand had 2 big chances and 0 big chances missed.

 

On the attack Minnesota united was able to block 2 shots executed by the Dynamo while the Dynamo was able to block 9 shots by Minnesota united. On the defensive angle, this is where Minnesota united took the lead over Dynamo’s. They had 7 tackles won at 63%, 4 keeper saves, 36 clearances, 9 interceptions and 9 blocks. But for the Houston Dynamo, who seemed to be all about offense during last night's game had 6 tackles at 50%, 1 keeper save, 34 clearances, 7 interceptions, and 2 blocked shots. The Houston Dynamo was called 1 time for being offsides while Minnesota United had 0 calls for being offsides. Lastly, the Dynamo’s took 7 corners to Minnesota United’s 5.

 

This was a great game, and the resulting win was long overdue for the Houston Dynamo. As always, the Houston Dynamo players signed autographs and took pictures with the fans. This win is also a breath of fresh air for Dynamo Head Coach Ben Olsen, who is well liked by both Dynamo players and fans. The next Dynamo game will be held at the Toyota stadium against fellow Texas rival FC Dallas. The current win probability stands at FC Dallas with a 45% chance of defeating the Houston Dynamo which has a predicted 27% chance of winning with a 28% chance of a draw.
