[Houston IFTAR 2026 27th Annual Ramadan Dinner] Last night’s Houston IFTAR 2026 27th Annual Ramadan Dinner with Houston Mayor John Whitmire which was held at the bayou city event center located at 9401 Knight rd., Houston Texas, 77045 proved to be a spectacular one as practitioners of Islam’s flew in from all over the world to participate in the cultural tradition of ramada. IFTAR "the fast-breaking meal” is the daily evening meal that is used to break the dawn-to-sunset fast during the holy month of Ramadan. For those of the Islamic faith, this is the time of year to reflect and fellowship with others of the religious faith. During last night's Ramadan event, there was traditional food eaten during the breaking of the fast.

Speakers of the night include Texas Politicians such as Congressman Al Green (D) and Houston may john Whitmire.  Ronald Reynolds was also in attendance at the event. Other highly noted figures that attended and spoke at last night’s Ramadan event included the coordinator of the Houston IFTAR Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston Emran Gazi, President of the Ismaili Council for southwestern USA Faisal Momin, Arab American Community Spokesperson Ahmad Alyasin, IFAR Imim Dr. Muhammad Haq, IFTAR Dua Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, Imam Mustafa Yigit, and Mufti Abdul Qadar Siddiqui.

Mayor John Whitmire took the stage to not only express his solidarity with the people of Arab culture, but with all practitioners of Islam. Congressional Awards were also awarded during last night's traditional celebration as well. Houston IFTAR 2026 27th Annual Ramadan Dinner was a great event that blended the very best of Arab culture and Islamic tradition.
