[Pornhub Age Verification Law] With mega adult video content site Pornhub being blocked in 25 states in America, many consumers of porn have been exploring other ways of watching porn, often time in some of the darkest of places on the web. With Pornhub facing backlash from prominent politicians and advocates who claim that Pornhub has played a major role in the sex trafficking of minors, Pornhub is still going strong in the rest of the world. The reason for the banning of sites like Pornhub in the first places was due to a company which is classified as a tech company, more specifically an “interactive computer service” is because of its unwillingness to follow laws that require “Age verification” in order for consumers of adult material to view their site.
After the U.S. The Supreme Court ruled that Texas’s age verification law was constitutional; many states followed suit in a collaborative but failing effort to stop minors from accessing pornographic videos and images. One of the main ways consumers of porn have been able to circumvent age verification laws is to utilize the software services that allow a web user to use a VPN (virtual private network) to watch porn – and it appears to be working to their benefit. State in America that passed laws to block sites like Pornhub consisted of: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
While age verification is of one concern, the issue of user privacy is another and that's what adult sites like Pornhub are claiming to take a stand against. Some consumers of porn that utilize VPN’s are wondering if VPN bans will be next on the bucket list of politicians and law makers. While the jury is still out on that, it appears that there are no stopping consumers of pornography from watching any time soon.
