[Russia Togo Embassy] Yesterday at the kremlin, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo, Africa and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bilateral agreement to open embassies in each other's country as a symbol of diplomatic solidarity which will lead to strengthening both countries socio-economically. It was reported that the opening of embassies in each respective country would allow for the advancement of education in Togo as well as heavy investment from Russia which will serve as an economic driver. With Togo and Russia developing this bilateral relationship, it will also serve as a platform for each country to benefit from each other militarily and through the transference of technology.

While the official date of when both Russia and Togo will open embassies in each other's countries is unknown, it has been agreed that the time will certainly be next year. With France and other western powers being essentially forced out of Togo and other African countries, the landscape appears to be ripe for Russia to expand its influence in the region. For President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, the expansion of Russia into Togo is a way to boost the future economic outlook of Togo through Russian investment.

Currently Togo has a population of roughly 9.8 million people of which an estimated adult literacy rate of 67% and a youth literacy rate of 85%. Although this is relatively in the middle when compared to other neighboring counties Nigeria (80%) and Benin (47%). It should be noted that the literacy rate of Togo falls far below that of Russia which has a literacy rate of 99.7%. On the forefront of economics, the GDP of Togo stands close to $9.8 billion (2024) while Russia despite the 20,000 plus sanctions placed on it by America and the collective west stands at $2.54 trillion a sharp increase from its pre-Ukraine war figure of $1.84 trillion.

President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbéexpressed the need for Togo to increase the number of people in its skilled workforce while boosting its ability to engage in sustainable growth and development to transform its economic viability in a positive direction. The transfer and infusion of Russian technology into Togo’s both short and long-term growth and development was something that Russia expressed it was willing to provide to Togo.

OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS

This is yet another signal that the multiploidization of the world is complete and Russia along with China appears to be at the forefront. We predict that this deal between Togo and Russia will not only “hyper-strengthen” diplomatic and military ties between the two countries but it will exponentially propel the entire country of Togo into the future. One of the things that we can see is Togo being a country that will provide another source of both cheap labor as well as a source of natural resources for Russia.

Abundant natural resources in Togo bedsides gold and diamonds include phosphate which Russia can use for fertilizer and agricultural production, zinc which is used in batteries, and manganese, a mineral that is used in fertilizer, batteries, and other electronics. The land in Togo also produces large quantities of cotton, sorghum, cassava, corn, yams, cocoa, beans, millet, coffee, and rice. This agreement between the two nations to build embassies in each other's countries is a perfect blend of “soft and hard” for lack of better terms. What we mean by that is while Togo provides agriculture and minerals (soft); Russia provides technology, weapons and security, investments (hard).
