[STS. CYRIL & METHODIUS SLAVIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL HOUSTON TEXAS] For many Slavic people who reside in Houston, Texas, today was a joyful event in which Slavic culture, food, and fellowship was the order of the day. The event was held at 607 E. Whitney Drive as various Slavic countries such as Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine, and others were represented at this year's event, and we were able to engage in conversations with several of the attendees to find out how they individually celebrate their Slavic heritage. Speaking with one of the attendees by the name of Svitlana Kurtikov who hails from the Slavic country of Ukraine educated us on Slavic traditions and foods as well as what to expect when encountering people with Slavic roots.

During today’s 110^th Slavic heritage festival, attendees dressed in traditional Slavic attire and performed traditional Slavic dances and the Moravian Brass Band Vonička performed followed by “Polka” Music that could be heard echoing throughout the center. Also in attendance for today’s Slavic festival were various vendors that specialized in Slavic arts and crafts which were available for purchase. Another hidden gem was the Czech-based alcohol and beer distillery Rudolf Jelínek (Návštěvnické centrum R. JELÍNEK Vizovice) who displayed an assortment of various flavors, liqueurs and gin which were free to sample.

With admission being only $10.00, the 2026 Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slavic Heritage Festival is a social and cultural treat you shouldn’t have missed. While little is known about Slavic culture in America, it’s highly recommended that that should not be a barrier to setting out the time needed to explore what cultures like the Slavic culture has to offer to the world.
