[Darion Ramos Zachary Bates College of Biblical Studies] Taking a break from the world of geopolitics, we decided to explore the who’s who in Houston. In doing so we were able to get the opportunity to interview two students Darion Ramos and Zachary Bates who currently attend and play basketball for the College of Biblical Studies right here in Houston.

This was a lighthearted conversation that led us to inquire why they chose to attend the College of Biblical Studies instead of attending a more “secular” College and/or University. When asked this question, we found that in 2025 they’re answers were a breath of fresh air as they mentioned how they’re attending the College of Biblical Studies and their coursework led them closer to God.

In this conversation, we talked about their experience as student athletes, as well as what it’s like for them as they play on the courts in front of hundreds if not 1,000’s of people. We explored how they balance being on the court and their personal lives off the court. We touched on who inspires them and how they view the NBA as well as international basketball teams. It was a pleasure to speak with them and we’re looking forward to speaking with them again, but next time we are looking to speak with them on the court rather than off the court.
