Trailer for film "The Little Death" written and directed by Josh Lawson
You may not have heard of this movie; however, this Australian film was released on June 26, 2014. Now here in America, people don’t really tend to watch foreign films as the magic of Hollywood keeps a continuous spell cast over them. But every once in a while, unless an international film is pushed by Hollywood, there are segments of the American society that will tune into a foreign film such as “The Little Death”. Contrary to the film’s title, it's not a gruesome horror flick with an appetite for human killing and destruction; rather, it is a film based upon the lives of 5 married couples living in Sydney, Australia that are struggling within their marriages.
Despite it being centered around the marriages of 5 couples – it can be said that this film will be loved by both singles and the unmarried. In an effort not to give away the plot or the twist in this film, we have to say that they film really does a great job at articulating the trials and tribulations of marriage and intimacy, conception, sexual fetishes, borderline infidelity (we say that for good reason), and one of the most interesting things we seen in a long time on film and one of the highlights of this film is how deaf people communicate sexually – if we can say that (we sure hope so).
Keep in mind that this scene DOESN'T go down the way you think it does -
severe plot twist here.
“The Little Death” written and directed by Josh Lawson is a comedy, romance drama film that really takes the time out to explore and define seemingly highs and lows of marriage and sexual communication. This is important because so many married couples seem to have the issues of sex and intimacy, infidelity, and communication as common problems. Even more than that, there is another issue that was addressed and is a highlight of this film and that is the inclusion of the issues men face while they are in a marriage. We recalled the raging, nagging, bitch one man had for a wife that stood out to us that resulted in something so catastrophic that will make you self-reflect on both your past and present relationship as you watch this film.
The social dynamics in play for this film for all our Sociologists out there makes for a great learning tool in the college/university setting. Moreover, for anyone thinking about getting married this film is something that you should consider watching as it brings unique situations to the forefront of relationships and marriages along with issues that directly affect married couples. Furthermore, after watching this film, it will call for a deep discussion after viewing it. The film “The Little Death” can be seen on the following platforms: “Crackle, Magnolia Selects, Plex, Pluto Tv, The Roku Channel, Tubi, and for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video.
Happy viewing.
