[France Pornhub age verification law] Following in the footsteps of America, France is now requiring all pornography sites such as Pornhub, Youporn, and Redtube which are owned by Aylo who is now owned by Ethical Capital Partners, not require age verification before viewing their sites. like in America, when viewers attempt to log onto these sites, they will encounter a statement regarding the new laws in France. The reason cited by French officials to require age verifications on social porn sites is to combat sex traffickers from using their sites to sexually exploit minors and to protect minors from viewing pornography on their devices. However, many sideliners that oppose such age verification measures say demanding that age verification be established before people can view social pornography sites does nothing to stop human sex trafficking.

The reason for this is because human sex trafficking rings make more than enough money to not only construct their own sites but can continue to operate successfully without the use of the internet and will continue to do so. Like America, proponents of social porn sites say that governmental overreach and the invasion of privacy can and will at some point be breached. While the French government is embarking on a predetermined failed attempt to combat human sex trafficking, French social porn consumers like their American counterparts are turning to VPN to curtail the French law.

VPN signups like ProtonVPN and NordVPN have seen a 1,000% and 170% increase respectively in consumer traffic within the first 30 minutes of the French law going into effect. It was reported that the demand for VPN’s was larger than that of the Americans when a ban on TikTok was in consideration. France is the second largest consumer of porn right after America who currently ranks 1st place. Aylo, owner of the world famous Pornhub, stated that instead of having social porn companies establish age verification checks, age verification checks should be conducted at the device level. What this means is that smartphone manufacturers and service providers should have administrative controls and processes in place to address the needs of each country's respective government.

There is no way to eradicate human sex trafficking no more than there is a way for the world to rid itself of terrorism. To do so would be futile and a waste of resources. Instead, the responsibility of what minors view on their phones should be left up to the parents and smartphone software manufacturers should take up the mantle and find ways to offer solutions to people who oppose the viewing of porn on their devices.

Another hard truth is that it's not sex traffickers who distribute content on the web, in fact they make up a small number when it comes to producing porn as they tend to keep their illegal acts out of the public eye for the fear of being shut down, arrested, and losing revenue. The irony is that there is an even greater number of minors who tend to produce and view porn at a rate that may make the average sex trafficker blush. The notion that minors are innocent and have nothing to do with the production and consumption of porn only shows the level of ignorance, naiveté and possible disingenuousness of politicians and lawmakers around the world.
