Last night’s game between the Houston Dynamos and the Seattle Sounders FC was considered by many fans of soccer a very aggressive game with fans filled with frustration of the lack of referees calling “foul” for many of the plays against the Houston Dynamos. Throughout the entirety of the game the Seattle Sounders FC could easily be seen as being overly aggressive and engaging in roughhousing throughout various plays on the field. Even though these “aggressive actions” were occurring on the field the Houston Dynamos were able to score two points within the first half of the game.

It wouldn't be until the second half of the game that the Seattle Sounders FC would score their two points that would even the odds between themselves and the Houston Dynamos. Last night’s stats between the two teams resulted in the Houston Dynamos taking 18 shots to the Seattle Sounders FC 10. Both teams fared equally when it came to shots on target; 5-5. The Houston Dynamos maintained ball possession 57% of the time compared to the Seattle Sounders FC’s 43%. The Houston Dynamos also led when it came to passes, a whopping 550 passes to the Seattle Sounders 419.

Another thing that should be mentioned is that the several players from the Houston Dynamos displayed exquisite footwork when it came to maneuvering the ball while on the offense down the field. In doing so, it kept several players from the Seattle Sounders on their toes and broke several ankles. When it came to passing accuracy the Houston Dynamos had a slight lead with an 86% rate to Seattle Sounders FC 83%. Again, this was an aggressive game between the two teams, which resulted in a lot of pushes and pulls between the two teams. Thus, the Houston Dynamo led with 12 fouls to Seattle 11.

The Houston Dynamos also lead when it came to being awarded Yellow Cards. For those who aren’t football/soccer inclined, that’s not a good thing.  The Houston Dynamos had 3 Yellow Cards while Seattle obtained 1. No Red Cards were given throughout the match. Houston Dynamos were hit with an offsides call (1) while Seattle Sounders 0. Lastly the Houston Dynamos had 5 corners to the Seattle Sounders 2.

Despite the high level of aggression between the two teams last night it was a very good match to bear witness to. During the Press Conference the head coach of the Houston Dynamos Ben Olsen expressed his disappointment regarding the Dynamos not “winning” last night’s game. He stated, “I’ll eat this loss – it's my fault.” The next Houston Dynamo game will be between the D.C. United at Audi Field this Saturday at 7:30 ET.
