ICE PROTEST HOUSTON TEXAS: AGENT GREGORY FEATHERS NAMED KILLER OF LORENZO SALGADO ARAUJO

[ICE PROTEST LORENZO SALGADO ARAUJO GREGORY FEATHERS HOUSTON TEXAS] Yesterday, protestors gathered together outside of Houston's City Hall in solidarity to express anger and frustration over the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Mexican National Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Agent Gregory Feathers. The fatal shooting occurred on July 7, 2026. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was a construction worker who was traveling to work in the Magnolia Park neighborhood when he was shot and killed during an altercation that stemmed from Agent Gregory Feather mistaking the identity of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo for another subject. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was taken to Ben Taub hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The reason why this shooting sparked local and national outrage was due to conflicting accounts of what happened between Agent Gergory Feathers and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. While Agent Feathers stated he and several other ICE Agents executed a vehicle stop in what they called a “targeted operation”, and that Lorenzo Salgado Araujo failed to follow lawful orders of the Agents and then proceeded to utilize his vehicle as a weapon by striking an Agents vehicle and then using his vehicle to attempt to run over an Agent. It was then Agent feather stated that he was promoted to discharge his weapon to stop Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in self-defense.
Despite this statement, eyewitnesses accounts consisted of detained suspects in the ICE vehicle and onlookers described they observed an ICE Agent striking the van, followed by Agent feathers and other Agents exiting their vehicles while simultaneously shouting commands with weapons drawn. They reported that within seconds Agent feathers fired his weapon despite Lorenzo Salgado Araujo being a threat or weaponizing his vehicle against the Agents.
While an investigation into the shooting is still being currently investigated, Agent feathers has not been criminally charged. Protestors have taken the position that the shooting in conjunction with Agent feathers not being charged for the shooting death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo is a travesty that should not have ever occurred in this country and that greater transparency and more restraint should be practiced by ICE.
