[Iran hangs three Israeli spies] Iran convicted and executed three men by hanging that were tried in a court of Iranian law for aiding Israel which led to the assassination of an Iranian citizen. The name of the victim has not been released. Iran has also executed another set of three men Idris Ali, Azad Shojai and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul who were tried and convicted in an Iranian court of law for being agents of the Israeli Mossad, which is the intelligence agency of Israel. They were convicted and executed for smuggling equipment in Iran that were used by the Israelis for launching attacks within Iran within what President Trump has dubbed the “12-Day War”. The execution of these six men took place in the city of Urmia which is located near the northwestern border by Türkiye.

Idris Ali, Azad Shojai and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul and others were executed for charges that fall under “corruption on Earth through cooperation with hostile foreign states in favour of Israel”. Iranian authorities have also  arrested another 700 people for “directing suicide drones”, “making homemade bombs”, “photographing sensitive military sites” and “sending information to Israel”. It was reported by various sources that Iran has confiscated more than 10,000 micro drones that were to be used by Israel inside Iran.

Due to the unprecedented nature of Israeli spies and Iranian defectors operating with Iran, the Iranian judicial system has expanded it’s legal definition and framework of what constitutes espionage to coincide with the current state of the world which will “ free the hands of the judiciary and security institutions to deal with infiltrators and spies”. While human rights organizations the world over have been condemning the executions carried out by Iran – their condemnation has appeared to have fallen on deaf ears.

OUR POSITION AT VEDA COMMUNICATIONS

Although Iran has managed to send shockwaves throughout Israel with its series of “True Promise” military operations, Iran still has work to do when it comes to getting a grip on Israeli spies and Iranian defectors within its borders. Yes, the Iranian government should execute such individuals that are found to be guilty of such crimes within the Iranian judicial system, but Iran should consider addressing the root cause of why some of its citizens are willing to risk life and limb to aid Israel’s. Exactly what the root cause is, is a difficult one to diagnose because the decades long situation in Iran like all countries in West Asia have gotten too complex to tackle all at once.

All countries have their fair share of spies and defectors, how Iran choses to deal with these issues will set the tone that Israel will have to pay attention to.
