[Israel aids Ukraine with Patriot Missile Defense System against Russia] Conflicting Reports are stating that Israel may have now joined Ukraine’s provocation against Russia as Israel has been accused of transferring MIM-104D PAC-2/GEM+ and several (some say 10) American made MIM-104 Patriot Missile Defense Systems over to Ukraine which we made in the early 1990’s. The MIM-104 Patriot Missile Defense System is a surface-to-air missile defense system. Sources say that the transfer of the American made missile defense system was executed in secret.
Although Israel stated to the Press that it seeks to have positive diplomatic relations with both Ukraine and Russia – the actions of Israel paint a different picture. It was once said “never mind what a man says – watch what he does”, and the actions of Israel appear to be contradictory to the statement it made to the Press. The United States has maintained silent on the matter.
Could there be another strategy at play? Another question that should be asked is why is Israel seeking to arm Ukraine now? Could it be that Israel's true intent when it comes to assisting with the arming of Ukraine is to elicit a military response from Russia? If this is the case, then it would pull America directly into the war if Russia were to execute a counterattack on Israel. Another thing to think about is the fact that Israel may have not been able to do this without the approval of the Americans. This is something to think about since America is known for having strict terms of use and stipulations when it comes to other countries deploying its weapons systems.
For Russia, this is seen as another provocation because Russia has explicitly stated that Ukraine should not only cease to seek NATO membership, but Ukraine should be a neutral zone. Russia has also stated that it will not tolerate any NATO presence or NATO weapons near its border. The Israeli foreign ministry has denied any such transfer of American made Patriot Missile Defense Systems to Ukraine and instead has refuted the original claim made by Israel's ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky that Israel was delivering such systems to Ukraine.
In an interview with Marichka Dovbenko (Ukrainian Blogger) michael Brodsky made the following comment:
“These are Israeli systems that were in IDF service in the early 1990s, we agreed to transfer them over to Ukraine. There hasn't been much talk about it. but when people say that Israel didn’t provide military aid – that’s simply not true.”
Whether Israel transferred Patriot Missile Defense Systems to Ukraine or not, simply doesn’t matter. What does matter is that the speculation is there. with that speculation comes the need for Russia to “adjust” accordingly.
