[Montreal defeats Houston Dynamo 3-1] The Houston Dynamo and the Montréal was a game that despite the Dynamo not having their full starting players up and running in the first half, was still a game worth watching. This is despite Montréal scoring two points within the first quarter. The Dynamo appeared to look frustrated with Montréal scoring despite the aggressive level  of play that the Dynamo exhibited on the pitch.

The first point of the Dynamo wouldn’t be scored until the second half of the match by Ondřej Lingr reinvigorated the Dynamo, but it was too little too late as the Dynamo was forced in the words of head coach Ben Olsen to “chase the game”. This was an intense match as both teams shoved, pushed, tackled, pulled at times to gain possession of the ball. But in the end dynamo players, staff, and fans left the match feeling frustrated with the defeat inflicted on them by Montréal. With the Houston Dynamo’s appearing to lead in every category stat wise, there was no excuse for their loss last night against Montréal.

The Houston Dynamo took a total of 18 shots with 2 shots on target, and 8 shots off target in contrast Montréal took a total of8 shots, resulting in 5 shots on target, and 2 shots that landed off target. With the Dynamo possessing the ball 63% of the time to Montréal’s 37% of the time, just the sheer amount of time the Dynamo’s had possession of the ball should have led to them not only taking more shots, but the chances of them scoring a goal should/would have increased as well. but that wasn't the case. The Houston Dynamo had a pass accuracy rate of 86% for a total of 530 passes and 459 accurate passes. Montréal had a pass accuracy rate of 82%, with a total of 319 passes, and  262 accurate passes.

Defensively, the Houston Dynamo’s didn’t fare too well in this respect, only leading when it came to keeper saves; 2 to Montreal's 1. Montréal took the cake defensively by obtaining 42 clearances, 7 interceptions and 8 blocks. The Dynamo acquired 8 clearances, 5 interceptions and 1 block. Looking at the general gameplay of the two teams, both fared equal in terms of big chances, both earning 4 big chances apiece, but in terms of big chances missed by the Houston Dynamo while Montréal missed 2.

Neither team received calls for being offsides, and both teams were equal when it came to corners, with both teams taking 7 corners. Looking at disciplines, the Houston Dynamo were issued 3 yellow cards and racked up 13 fouls, while Montréal acquired 2 yellow cards and 15 fouls. Neither team was issued any red cards.

The next Houston Dynamo game will be held in Minnesota against the Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, June 25th, at & 7:30p.m. at Allianz Field. The current win probability between the two teams stands at Minnesota winning the match at 53%, the Houston Dynamo with a 22% chance of winning with a 25% chance of a draw between the two teams. At this point it can be said that the Houston Dynamo can’t take too many more losses on the pitch before they’re written by their fan base. but win, lose, or draw, if you love soccer (futbol) any and every match is a great match to watch.
