Russian president Vladimir Putin took the time out to meet with freed hostage Sasha Troufanov who was a victim of the October 7th assault on Israel by Hamas. If you are wondering why this is important, it’s because the release of Sasha Troufanov demonstrates the high level of diplomatic influence Russia has in West Asia. Sasha Troufanov who was 27 years old on the day of Hamas led an assault on Israel, he is currently 29 years old. Sasha Troufanov was born in 1995 in the Russian city of Rostov, Russia and immigrated to Israel at the tender age of 2 years old.

Sasha Troufanov was released by Hamas on February 15th of this year after spending 498 days in Hamas captivity. Sasha Troufano, as well his mother and grandmother Yelena and Irena  Troufanov as well as his girlfriend Sapir Cohen were all handed over to the red cross as part of the first phase of negotiation talks. Unfortunately, his father Vitalk Troufanov was killed during the October 7th assault in Israel.

During the meeting with President Putin, made sure to have Sasha Troufanov thank the leaders of Hamas for releasing them. The fact that diplomacy is still achievable in the world of chaos we live in today means that there is still room for dialogue between nations and organizations around the world whether one believes in their causes or not. The point that some are making is that if Russia possesses the ability to have both meaningful and successful negotiations with organizations like Hamas and states like Palestine as well as other countries, why is it that the Collective West, specifically America, perpetually fails to achieve the same results?

We’ll leave that for you to decide. In the meantime, feel free to watch the video above which was made public by the Kremlin.
