[President Trump State of The Union Address] “Our nation is back: bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before!” that was the opening line for President Trump’s 2026 State of The Union Address. Last night American President Trump delivered his State of The Union Address. While the majority of Republican Congressmen and State Representatives attended President Trump's State of The Union Address, a sizable number of Democrats have opted out of attending last night's address in protest of the President.
Newly elected Christian Menefee of the Texas 18th Congressional District is one of the politicians that has announced that they would not be attending last night's address. With President Trump’s approval rating standing at a historic low of 36% according to the Gallup's Poll. This is roughly where he stood by the end of his first term in office. Most Americans surveyed expressed their dissatisfaction with the way President Trump is handling the economy, foreign policy, and other domestic affairs.
While President Trump was met with standing ovations and praise, Texas Congressman Al Green (D) was escorted out of the chamber by Secret Service within five minutes of the commencement of Trump's State of the Union Address. His ejection was due to him protesting President Trump and holding up signage that appeared to read: "Black People Aren't Apes", which is reference to the recent controversial graphic that released by a White House Staffer. President Trump openly spoke against gender affirming care. Showing his respect and administration for the USA Men's Hockey Team which won the Gold Medal at this year's Olympic Games, he praised the team for their performance.
President Trump also vowed to continue to aggressively take on illegal immigration head on as he promised to continue to champion protectionist measures from American citizens. In terms of voting, President Trump reaffirmed his stance and enforcement of ensuring that all voters must have present a valid state ID card, or state issued Driver’s License before being allowed to engage in the official voting process. He also praised various Military Veterans that were in attendance for their service as well.
President Trump also touched on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. His position is that all major technology companies must use their own power sources from all new data centers. This is partly because many Americans expressed their frustration over data center’s' heavy use of electricity and power which they believe will increase energy prices. President Trump also took a firm stance on crime and provide data and figures on how much crime has gone down in American cities such as Memphis, Tennessee, New Orleans, as well as the nations capitol, Washington D.C.
He also openly pushed back against the decision of the American Supreme Court which recently blocked his application of reciprocal tariffs on various countries who he perceived as “ripping America off”. However, it is expected that the Trump Administration will seek to find ways around the decision of the Supreme Court as countries are still paying the current set of tariffs under the Trump Administration. The South American country of Venezuela was also on President Trump's agenda. Ecstatically, President Trump announced that the country of Venezuela will be exporting 80 million barrels of oil to the United States.
Geopolitically, President Trump talked about the Ukraine-Russian war as well as the war between Israel and Hamas; and reiterated that he would not allow Iran to ever have a nuclear weapon. While President Trump expressed that he favored diplomacy with Iran, he simultaneously stood on the notion of “Peace Through Strength” when it comes to engaging Iran. On the western front, President Trump took credit for “taking down one of the biggest drug lords” in Mexico by the name of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes also known as “El Mencho”; leader of the CJNG (Jalisco New Generation Cartel) as well as capturing the President of Venezuela Nicolas Madro, another highly controversial action that has sparked international back lash and shifted the global landscape.
