[Skills Based Assessment jobs employment] With employers struggling to find what is known as the perfect candidate combined with the job market seeming to look bleak for millions of Americans, in conjunction with rising cost and inflation; the notion of the resume appears to fade into a thing of the past. The job resumes which was once hailed as the perfect snapshot picture of the knowledge, skills, and abilities since the 1950’s is getting ready to become a thing of the past. granted there will always be employers that will request a resume to some extent, but job seekers will begin seeing more employers look for something called “Skills-Based Assessments” (SBA).

There are several reasons for this starting with the fact that for decades job seekers, especially those that essentially “exaggerated” their skillsets, experience, and abilities on the or resume leaving employers who hired them only to discover that they lacked the true skill sets needed to be effective at the tasks that the hiring employer needed them to have. It was recently revealed that an estimated 2/3 of employers around the world utilize skills-based assessments when hiring new employees.

Skills based assessments provide employers with a true picture and a Candidate’s working knowledge, skills, and abilities and what was discovered by “TestGorilla” was that there was an 88% reduction in mis-hires and an 82% reduction in the time it took for employers who used skills-based assessments to identify the Perfect Candidate. Both of these factors led to a 74% reduction in hiring costs for the employer. The fact that employers saw a definitive return in their bottom line has only encouraged more employers to follow suit. Backing the claims of these employers a total of 92% of employers stated that skill-based assessments did a better job at helping them identify the Perfect Candidate and 80% of those same employers stated that not only were skill-based assessments a better predictor of Candidate success on the job but it was more effective at determining and aiding in employee retention.

What all of this means is that if more employers utilize skills-based assessments in order to identify the Perfect Candidate, the playing field would be essentially leveled for both job seekers and employers alike; something it hasn’t been in decades. Put another way, skills-based assessments will allow employers to separate bullshit Candidates from Candidates who are skilled, productive, and effective at the jobs that they are applying for. The implantation of skills-based assessments or assessments will also further rid the workforce of DEI hires. These are people that were hired not because they could perform job tasks but because they were hired because the notion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) was forced upon employers in America.

Skills based assessments are suspected to have a huge impact on corporate America as well. No longer will candidates get hired because of nepotism or office politics as they will be forced to display their skills set in real time before they are even offered an offer letter for an employer. However, it’s been said that the more things change, the more they tend to stay the same. Our guess is that time will tell as it always does because there is such a thing as being humanly biased.
