[May 2025 Consumer Price Index Report] Yesterday the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). On the surface it looks as if all categories are up except for “Energy”. With all the inflation occurring within America due to Trump’s Administration imposing tariffs on essentially the entire world, in sum, “All Items” are up 2.4%, “Food” is also up 2.9%, and the category “All Items Less Food And Energy” are also up 2.8%.

With American tariffs placed on so many countries around the world, one of the biggest drawbacks for America is that it is finding itself ever increasingly isolated when it comes to both geopolitics and when it comes to global trade. The CPI or the consumer price index is a great indicator of which the American economy is going. Currently, looking at the surface of it seems that everything seems to be on the up and up for the exception of "Energy". “All Items” are up 2.4%. when you look at “Food” in the general sense, it too is up 3.0%. the category “All Items Less Food and Energy Commodities” are up standing at 2.8%.
