CANADA TO JOIN EUROPEAN UNION DESPITE TARIFF THREATS BY TRUMP

[TRUMP CANADA EUROPEAN UNION TARIFF] American President Donald Trump has threatened to either apply “serious tariffs” on or to cease to trade with the European Union if it allows Canada to become an Associate Member of the EU. If Canada is allowed to join the EU, Canada would be the first Associate Member of the EU. President Trump dismissed the idea of Canada joining the EU calling it “laughable”. What’s not laughable is the fact that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will be delivering an address to the European Parliament today. European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen seriously entertained the idea of the EU and Canada strengthening bilateral cooperation based on defense, energy, and technology.

In defense of her proposition to Canada, she stated “This is a partnership not against anyone else, but for our common strength. In short, we want to bring the relationship with Canada to the highest level possible.” Backing European Commissioner Ursula Von der Leyen was Frances’ Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad, he stated that “It is not up to the United States – or ‌ anyone else – to choose the political and geopolitical direction of the Europeans. Once again, we have a relationship with Canada, and we are fully entitled to seek to deepen it”.

Despite the threat of tariffs from President Trump, Mark Carney is continuing to push for a "unique alliance” with the European Union as a way for Canada to diversify their ability to trade with other countries while reducing their ability to depend on the Americans in the sector of commercial trade. Prime Minister Mark Carney took to the Press and described Canada and Europe as “natural partners united by shared values” and that both countries should work towards “a deeper partnership that reinforces our mutual sovereignty to create more opportunities and prosperity for our peoples”.

OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS

It is our perspective that Canada has no fear when it comes to the threats made by President Trump in terms of either completely stopping commercial trade with Canada or the application of significant tariffs on Canadian goods, products, and services. We are taking this position because Canada holds a very specific “Trump Card” that allows them to ignore such threats from President Trump and one of those Trump Cards is their ability to cut over 6 million Americans off from the Canadian power grid. Canada also holds other Trump Cards as well and those cards consist of agriculture and fertilizer, auto parts, metals and critical minerals, lumber, and other forms of raw materials.

Our prediction is that Canada will move forward with joining or at least significantly increasing its trading ability with the EU and they won't stop there. Remember the world has been multi-polar for quite some time; there will be other nations to spark trade deals with such as China and Vietnam.
