[Robert Slater Sylvia Garcia Acres Homes Progressive Alliance] In a Press Release provided to us, we were informed that congressional candidate Robert Slater (D) has not only gained the endorsement from the members of the Acres Home's Progressive Alliance but is now set up to be the front-line challenger to incumbent Sylvia Garcia (D) who has been in the congressional seat for seven years. Citing claims from the residents of the historic Acres Homes community which consist of needing a congressional representative that is committed to “transparency, accountability, and sustained engagement with constituents beyond the election cycle”. The claims from the residents from the Acres Homes community do not stand alone as many Houstonians and citizens across America are seeking the same thing from those their elected officials.

"The undersigned stakeholders from the Acres Homes community, collectively organizing as the Acres Homes Progressive Alliance and representing constituents within the newly drawn Texas Congressional District 29, hereby endorse Robert Slater for election to the United States Congress.
Our endorsement is grounded in a shared belief that Congressional District 29 requires a representative who is committed to transparency, accountability, and sustained engagement with constituents beyond the election cycle. Acres Homes and other historically significant communities within CD-29 have too often experienced representation that is episodic rather than continuous, and symbolic rather than structural.
Robert Slater has articulated a governing approach that directly addresses this concern. In particular, his proposal to establish a Federal Congressional Advisory Board (FCAB) reflects a unique and forward-looking effort to create a formal mechanism for constituent input and transparency within a congressional office. This proposal goes beyond traditional town halls or informal outreach by envisioning an ongoing structure through which community stakeholders can engage with policy priorities, legislative positions, and oversight responsibilities.
To our knowledge, no other candidate in this race has publicly advanced a comparable framework for institutionalized constituent participation. The FCAB proposal demonstrates a seriousness about governance and accountability that aligns with the values and expectations of stakeholders in Acres Homes and throughout CD-29.
