[Socialism Zohran Mamdani] In the wake of Democratic Socialist front runner Zohran Mamdani winning the New York election and becoming New York’s first South Asian Mayor of Muslim faith. The 34-year-old seems to be right on time to ride a trend that’s slowly coming to light in mainstream America and that trend is socialism. It should be noted that the newly elected Mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani has a strong background in working with the underprivileged, underrepresented, and underserved residents of New York city as a Housing Counselor. With many republicans throwing the word “socialism” around, it seems that Mayor Zohran Mamdani has remained true to the talking point of his campaign which is centered around improving the socio-economic condition of New Yorkers and public safety.

Founded by Michael Harrington in 1982, The Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) gained a lot of ground during Bernie Sanders 2016 as they heavily supported his presidential run and gained another boost in popularity by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Congressmen Ocasio-Cortez in 2018. Then another boost to the DSA came in 2022 with Sarahana Shrestha being elected to the New York State Assembly. Yet another boost that deepened the credibility of the DSA came yesterday with the electoral win of Zohran Mamdani to become the new Mayor of New York City.

One of the methods Mayor Zohran Mamdani is looking to introduce to combat the socio-economic disparities so many New Yorkers are facing is to implement rent control measures, something hard-core republicans and many apartment owners are trying their best to fight against. Other measures that Mayor Zohran Mamdani are looking to implement are to significantly reduce the cost of childcare, make public transportation free, and he’s looking to do all of this while increasing the number of city owned grocery stores, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani during an interview with the BBC:

“This is a city where one in four of its people are living in poverty, a city where 500,000 kids go to sleep hungry every night.”

Although the trend of children going to bed hungry isn’t unique to the city of New York; it seems to be an ever-rising trend in every major city in America. Another eyebrow raising measure Mayor Zohran Mamdani is looking to introduce is the raising of the corporate tax rate from 7.5% to 11.5%; a four-percentage jump from where it currently is and he’s also looking to add a 2% tax increase for residents who make more than $1 million dollars in income a year. But if that’s not enough, Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated to the Press that he is willing to have Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu arrested if he ever came back to New York city. Mayor Zohran Mamdani stressed the importance of adhering to not only local, state, and federal laws, but to international law as well.

According to the DSA website:

“reject an economic order based on private profit, alienated labor, gross inequalities of wealth and power, discrimination based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, age, religion, and national origin, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo.”

“We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane social order based on popular control of resources and production, economic planning, equitable distribution, feminism, racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships.”

OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS:

For many young voters, these appear to be principals that they support. It seems that right now is no better time for a new third party and that third party doesn’t seem to be coming from the “Independent Party” in the traditional sense, but it’s coming from a new form of the Democratic Party; one born from the youth of today and carried on by the youth of tomorrow. If you’re like most American’s scratching your head and wondering how this happened; it happened because not only have times changed, but the “traditional” Democratic Party repeatedly failed to secure or produce a suitable competitor to run against President Donald Trump.

Maybe the Traditional Democratic Party as the average American knows it is at the end of it’s life cycle. Today’s youth have been forced to watch helplessly as old people have essentially fucked America up. Neither non-college grads and college grads can secure well-paying jobs, old people can’t retire for fear of not being able to survive during these times, men can’t find suitable wives, the women think they are men, the gays appear to outright confused on just about everything, the food is bad, the youth are tired of manufactured/fake wars, America as a whole doesn’t “make” anything anymore, and the education system in American has gone to shit.

Like it or not, there appears to be no stopping the political trend of Socialism as we predict that it's only going to gain more traction with an increased trajectory over time as Baby Boomers die off and those of Generation X seek to retire. The question that we have is how will the Republican Party react when their party morphs into something they couldn’t foresee?
