[Spain-Isreali sanctions] Yesterday, in Madrid, Spain 20 countries and other international agencies convened and continued with the latest talks of applying sanctions to Israel over it’s genocidal war which has led to the deaths of nearly 60,000 Palestinians, in conjunction with its plans to militarily occupy 70% of Gaza, and its brutal blockage of humanitarian aid which has led Gazans to near famine. European and Arab nations took time out to find a way on how to get Israel to stop their actions and reached the conclusion Israel no longer has an end goal in mind due to the fact that Israel appears to have widen the scope of its original war goals to the point where there seems to be no end of the war in sight.
This would be the second round of talks in Madrid, Spain regarding how to stop Israel but to many people around the world, “talks” like this have proven to do nothing but allow Israel to continue on its genocidal rampage. It was reported that the idea of applying a two-state solution was floated around during the talks yesterday. The notion of a two-state solution has been spoken about for many decades with no plan of action created and implemented. The question is why?
While it's unclear if this question and more like it were talked about during the yesterday's meeting in Madrid, the one thing that is known is that the idea of placing sanctions on Israel seems to be getting stronger as the world watches as American President Donald Trump pivots from Israel to other Arab and Muslim countries in favor of cross directional investments and business opportunities.
With Israel appearing to stand isolated on the world stage, now seems to be ripe for sanctions to be applied on Israel. Specifically, what sanctions that nations are looking to apply on Israel is currently unclear. However, in order to sanction Israel, sanctions on America would have to be applied as well as America has been the largest supporter of Israel in terms of supplying weapons and financial backing for decades. Skeptics take the position that even though president trump seems to have pivoted towards Arab and Muslim countries, the large Israel lobby that seems to have taken control over the American Congress and Politicians will not allow President Trump not to simply do nothing if the international community begins the direct application of sanctions on Israel.
As strong as the Israeli Lobby is in Washington D.C. Maybe it's time that that changes as well.
