“Face your fears. Embrace who you are. Only then will you find freedom”

[Stranger Things season 5] These were the take-aways that we at VEDA World News walked away with after watching the first half of season five of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things. If you have not made the time to watch seasons 1-4 of Stranger Things, it is highly advised that you do so to get caught up to speed as to who, what, when, where, why, and most importantly the how. Stranger Things season 5 five includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, and Jamie Campbell Bower. Joe Chrest and Amybeth McNulty, as well as new editions Linda Hamilton, Jake Connelly, and Nell Fisher.

According to the IMDB, the synopsis of Stranger Things season 5 is:

“In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits. As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries.”

But it's so much more than that. Directed by the Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (duffer brothers) Stranger Things season five takes those of us that can remember down the nostalgic road back to the 1980’s and early 1990’s where adventure, horror fantasies, and elements of futurism ran rampant through the minds of those that lived through what many hail as the best era of American society. What we love about Stranger Things season five is that Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer successfully pulled off the late 80’s early 90’s motif to such a degree that they may have inadvertently started a few trends.

We also love how Matt and Ross Duffer kept the storyline of the series true to its original 2016 debut. Everything from the color grading, to the actual things that people used during the time period, to the somewhat loose play on storyline elements of Hollywood blockbuster slasher films such as Nightmare On Elm Street, The Goonies, The Thing, Gremlins, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of The Third Kind, Ghostbusters, Friday The 13th and various other films of the 1980’s that we perceived to have played a role in the development of Stranger Things.

As always when it comes to talking about films whether we like a certain film or not, we won’t engage in “spoilers”, which tends to diminish and, in some cases, ruin the viewing experience of a series or film. But what we will say is that the episodes that were released last night of season 5 are only a part of the first half and that the second half will be released next month around Christmas. If you are watching anything on Netflix right now, we urge you to stop as you should be watching Stranger Things season 5 as well as the series past seasons on Netflix if you have not already done so. Whoever said there are no guarantees in life may have gotten it wrong; because we guarantee that if you tune into Stranger Things season 5, you’ll be in for an exceptional treat. Happy watching.
