[Sudan 46 children killed kindergarten] The international community is in outrage over the killing of 50 people which included the killing of 46 children at a kindergarten classroom by the Sudanese paramilitary forces in the south-central Sudanese town of Kalogi on last Friday as the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid support forces (RSF). Making matters worse, there was a reported second drone strike on paramedics as they were deployed to the scene to assist those in need of medical care.  The second attack was swiftly followed by a third attack near the second incursion. Currently, the rapid support forces or RSF have been blamed for the attack.

Representative from UNICEF Sheldon Yett stated:

“Killing children in their school is a horrific violation of children’s rights. Children should never pay the price of conflict. She begged for both parties to “stop these attacks immediately and allow safe, unhindered access for humanitarian assistance to reach those in desperate need”.

Although the recent drone attack has claimed the lives of 50 people, the conflict between the two warring sides (SAF and RSF) has claimed the lives of a total of 116 people. It should be noted that government buildings and a hospital were bombed by the RSF as well in conjunction with a suicide drone attack that claimed the lives of nine people. The situation in Sudan appears to be a very complex social issue that cannot be solved overnight. Both sides of the war are accusing each other of being in violation of agreements as both sides commit atrocities against each other in a quest for power in the region. The war in Sudan between the RSF and SAF began in April 2023 and claimed the lives of tens of thousands while perpetually displacing even more. It is predicted to continue with no end in sight, even as the Trump Administration has vowed to get involved.
