UN SECRETARY GENERAL ANTÓNIO GUTERRES ADDRESSES ISRAEL-LEBANON WAR | WRITTEN BY MICHAEL THERVIL | VIDEO COURTESY OF THE UNITED NATIONS

[UN Secretary General António Guterres Israel Lebanon] United Nations Secretary General António Guterres took the time out to fly to Beirut, Lebanon to deliver remarks to the people of Lebanon in an effort to not only shed light on the decades long ongoing war Israel has waged on the people of southern Lebanon; but Secretary General António Guterres also addressed Israel's illegal  and forced annexation of Lebanese land along the southern border. Stressing the importance of why the Lebanese government should take more effective measures to protect and enforce its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

He also addressed the actions of Hezbollah and its bombing campaign that has brought destruction to northern Israel as well. With southern Lebanon being “bombed to oblivion”, the Secretary General António Guterres stated to Press that “Lebanese people didn’t choose this war but were dragged into it” as he urged both sides to “stop the fighting, stop the bombing”. This comment was followed up with the statement “there is no military solution, only diplomacy”.

But many geopolitical analysts and political commentators have unanimously taken the position that Israel should not be militarily annexing southern Lebanon which includes the Golan Heights and anything south of the Litany River under the guise of combating Hezbollah who has been labeled as a Terrorist Organization by Israel and the Americans. Adding insult to injury, both geopolitical analysts and political commentators across the spectrum are now beginning to see Israel’s and the Americans reasons for fighting in the region, specifically organizations such as Hezbollah as nothing more than a false pretext to sow seeds of chaos and instability for the sake of retaining control over vassal Arab states in the region such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Jordan, Qatar, and Iraq.
