[Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi Israel Palestinian] Israeli Defense Force (IDF) Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi the top IDF attorney who authorized the leaking of the infamous brutal beating and rape of a blindfolded Palestinian inmate in an Israeli prison in august of 2024 to the Israeli Press has formally been arrested. The beating and the rape of the Palestinian prisoner was executed by five to 10 IDF soldiers whom of which we arrested and charged with aggravated battery. Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi who formerly served as a Military Advocate recently resigned on October 31st of last month.
While the official reasoning as to why former Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi leaked the tape to the Israeli Press was to “attempt to counter the false propaganda directed against the military law enforcement authorities”. In her resignation letter, she also stated that the Israeli government had led a "false campaign of delegitimization” and that their allegations that were brought against her and her command “favored terrorists over our own troops”. She also stated that she believed these allegations were crafted to target and delegitimize her command.
Many others believe that there may have been other motives as to why she decided to leak the tape because the raping and sexual assault of Palestinian prison was something that has been going before Hamas executed their attack on Israel on October 7th, 2022. It should be known that former Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was in fact conducting an official investigation into the matter. As of late Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi is currently facing various charges which include obstruction of justice, abuse of office, breach of trust, disclosure of official information by a public servant, and fraud under Israeli law.
The Palestinian prisoner who has not been named in what many are calling “an egregious assault and violation of human and civil rights on an international scale” suffered a multitude of injuries that include a punctured lung, fractured ribs, and severe tears in his rectum. The tear in the prison rectum was said to be due to being sodomized by a sharp object. Since the resignation of Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated:
"Anyone who spreads blood libels against IDF troops is unfit to wear the army's uniform."
This statement was followed by Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly made the following statement regarding the leaked video:
“The most severe propaganda attack that the State of Israel has experienced since its establishment."
Since the war broke out between Hamas and Israel, there have been an estimated 75 prisoners who have died while in the custody of the IDF. While Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi and the other IDF soldiers that are involved in this case have not gone to trial, there was a mass protest that was held that resulted in right wing pro-IDF protestors breaking and entering into the SDE Teiman Detention Center demanding that the investigation into the crimes be stopped.
OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS
All crimes to include international war crimes should be investigated with urgency. The fact that Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi decided that it would be best to go into hiding fearing being assassinated demonstrated that there is something fundamentally wrong within Israel, the culture within the IDF, and the Knesset when it comes to these matters. Supporting our position was the fact that Yinon Magal, who identifies as a right leaning journalist and politician called for the “lynching” of Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. While many may see the actions of Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi as a form of mutiny, there are countries like the United States that provide an outlet for whistleblowers; even though many people who become whistleblowers tend to become blacklisted/blackballed at some point due to them “blowing the whistle”.
The somatization and sexual assault of prisoners in Israeli prisons is nothing new as it has been going on for quite some time. Rape and sexual assault have been weaponized not only by the Israeli but by countless other countries around the world – even though rape and sexual assault of any kind is generally considered illegal in virtually all countries on the world stage. Our prediction is that former Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi will have to flee Israel as her safety and well-being will always be at stake. The question that we are asking is: Will she find a way out of Israel in time before she faces retaliatory measures for her actions?
