[Colorado Attacker Mohamed Sabry Soliman] Yesterday in Boulder Colorado, at roughly 1:26pm according to Boulder Colorado Police Chief Stephen Redfearn, there was an attack that left “multiple people” injured (6) with wounds ranging from serious to minor conditions that were consistent with “burns and other injuries”. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn called the brazen attack “unacceptable” and stated to the Press that his department received several calls regarding a man that was “Set on people” on fire during what some are either calling a pro-Israeli protest or demonstration in downtown Boulder Colorado between 13th Street and Pearl Street. Eyewitnesses stated that the attacker threw Molotov cocktails and used a “makeshift flamethrower” as he yelled “free Palestine” and “end Zionist” during the attack.
According to the Police Chief Stephen Redfearn when officers and other emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the incident and the suspect was identified by several eyewitnesses. Initially, the suspect who was vaguely described as “an adult male” was taken into custody “without incident” and treated for minor injuries associated with the tragic event. The suspect in custody is identified as Egyptian national 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman. The situation is still unfolding in Boulder Colorado and law-enforcement officials haven’t declared the area safe as it is a large parameter consisting of several blocks that have been sectioned off so that law-enforcement officers can conduct their investigation into the crime.
The people of Boulder Colorado have been advised by law enforcement to stay clear of the area, which means that business in the vicinity of the crime will be closed until further notice. The vehicles of people that attended the protest/demonstration will also have to stay in place as law-enforcement have a “vehicle of interest” which they say is the suspect's vehicle in their sights. While the motive of the potential suspect is unclear, it seems that social media has taken the liberty to call the crime “an act of terrorism”.
This is something that the Police Chief Stephen Redfearn is currently reframing from calling at this time; The FBI on the other hand is dubbing yesterday's attack as a “targeted act of violence” and is investigating this attack as an act of terrorism. It should be noted that local, state, and federal law-enforcement agencies are conducting their independent investigations as well. This recent attack comes just after a week when two Israeli embassy workers were shot in Washington D.C.
