[SOUTH KOREA NORTH KOREA WAR] While the war between South and North Korea has never officially ended and still rages on over 70 years, reports indicated that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has decided to engage in diplomatic talks with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un. The official reason cited for President Myung's decision is due to him seeking a way to stop North Korea from advancing its nuclear program. from the perspective of Geopolitical Analyst, they are currently taking the position that the President Myung has come to the realization that not only the fact that the Americas can no longer provide adequate security in the region, but he also fears that South Korea will not be able to defend itself in any capacity against North Korea specifically when it comes to a North Korean nuclear missile attack.
All of this comes on the hills of the Trump Administration announcing that it will be "scaling back joint military operations with South Korea" due to South Korea declining to come to Trump Administrations aid in its war of choice against Iran. Thus pushing President Trump towards North Korea within the past few days. The proposed idea to begin diplomatic talks to end the seven decades long war between the two nations were announced by President Myung during his ceremonial speech at South Korea’s 81st Liberation Day national celebration which marks the end of Imperial Japanese rule in 1945. During his speech he stated:
“Let us put aside our intentions to threaten each other and begin discussions to end the long-running war as the directly involved parties.”
Although it appears that President Myung's public address was sincere, North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un has yet to provide a statement to the Press to either confirm or deny that he would be interested in engaging in diplomatic talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to bring an end to the war between the two nations.
OUR THOUGHTS AT VEDA WORLD NEWS
If the two nations can begin and successfully implement diplomatic talks that could end the seven decades long war between them, it would do a lot to improve transnational security in the region. What we mean by this is that, while western influence will significantly decline, and allow south and north Korea to have a better relationship; it will also possibly serve as a springboard to allow countries like Russia, Iran, China, and surprisingly Burkina Faso to further increase and deepen their diplomatic between each other.
With South Korea being known for its prominence in the tech sector, it will allow for China to play a role in further developing artificial intelligence with South Korea. Russia benefits as it will be able to further develop the military capabilities of both South and North Korea. Iran will benefit because of its need to foster relationships with allies and its need for economic growth and oil and gas exportation. Burkina Faso benefits because of its need of technology, its need for better military capabilities, economic growth and development, its need for strategic allies to balance the weight of western sabotage in its country, and its need for Artificial Intelligence to further advance it to be on par with modern industrialized nations.
