During the latter part of last week in a world first, Egypt and China conducted their first joint military drills entitled: “Eagles of Civilizations 2025”. For some it is seen as a sign of unity, for others it's seen as a red flag that shouldn’t be ignored by America and Israel. For decades, even though America has provided foreign aid to both Egypt and Israel, Israel always seemed to get the better deal. Before we go any further, it should be stated and understood that the average American doesn’t want to provide foreign aid to either Egypt or Israel (or any other country), especially when they see their standard of living crumbling before their very eyes. However, with America providing foreign aid to Israel and Egypt, it was Israel that always seemed to get preferential treatment. What we mean by this is that Israel always got more funding, better military equipment, and stronger support than the likes of Egypt. Well, it looks like that has changed.
With China conducting military drills with the Egyptians on both land and air, it appears to have sent chills up the spine on the Israeli’s. The reason for this is because the Israeli’s typically go unmatched in the region in terms of power and influence for as long as they are backed by the Americans. but this is no longer the case. As China along with Russia ramps up their presence in the Sahel region of Africa, it was only a matter of time before either Russia or China expanded their reach into other African countries. The joint military drills that Egypt and China executed occurred right along the Israeli border. The next logical question is: “Is China and Egypt gearing up for something else in the region?” and “Should America and its proxy Israel be taking notice?”
The one thing that this military drill between the two nations is saying is that “we have options.” With more of the world turning away from American made weapon system because of America lecturing them about what they can do with the weapons after a country has brought them and because of the embedded kill switches that have been discovered in many of the military planes that America has sold to various nations; Egypt along with many other nations are looking to diversify their weapons purchasing portfolio when it comes to their military capabilities and weapon systems.
Former Egyptian Military Intelligence Officer Lt. Col. Eli Dekel stated:
“Egypt has deliberately, for many years, tried not to depend on any one superpower. It does this intentionally, and it costs a lot in resources. It [Egypt] buys weapons from everyone, and it strives to maintain military and political relations with many countries.”
This statement made by Lt. Col. Eli Dekel doesn’t go without a detractor and one of those detractors is Israel’s Brig. General Jacob Nagel who stated the following:
“Israel does not want to add the Egyptian front to the fronts in which it is currently engaged, but Egypt is a force that must not be underestimated, and one must keep a wide-eye to detent dangers from there, certainly after oct. 7th.”
The Israeli’s also seemed to be very “sensitive” to the notion and the possible reality of China selling advanced weapon systems and radar detection to the Egyptians; and they should be. The obvious reason for this is because Israel as a fighting force has been used only to bombing and fighting poor people who don’t have access to the necessary means to fight back. Hence with the joint military drill conducted by Egypt and China, uncertainty seems to be the key thing driving Israel mad, but the one thing they do know is that they could never do to the Egyptians what they are doing to the people of Palestine.
