According to the Trump Administration, many Greenlanders would like to become Americans. However, recent polls are failing to support the claims made by the Trump Administration. In fact, it was reported that an overwhelming 85% of Greenlanders have rejected the idea of becoming part of America. It was also reported that roughly 45% of Greenlanders perceived the Trump Administration's hard talking points regarding buying and outright annexing Greenland as an extension of America as a threat.
For the people of Greenland, it doesn't matter if the Trump Administration sees the island nation as vital to American security, both Denmark and Greenland are sticking to their guns in solidarity with Prime Minister Múte B. Egede when he said: "Greenland is not for sale”. In a previous article entitled: “GREENLAND IS NOT FOR SALE”, we highlighted the following:
“What you need to know is this, Greenland is ultra rich in natural resources, with much of its natural resources lying dormant beneath its ice. Natural resources such as copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, rare-earth elements, titanium, zinc, iron ore, coal, and graphite. Along with that Greenland has roughly close to 20 billion undiscovered barrels of oil in its possession.”
This arctic gold mine is what America is after – there simply is no other way to say it. In response to the most obvious reason why America wants to annex Greenland, Denmark has begun to draw up a $2 billion plan to boost their military presence on the autonomous island nation to serve as a deterrent to the threats of American expansion and annexation. At the present time no one is predicting that a war of any sort will break out anytime soon. But it is understood by political pundits that just the Trump Administration's threat of American expansion as an effort to annex Greenland is enough to cause unnecessary geopolitical tensions which will prove to have a ripple effect across Europe.
There is a small segment of geopolitical analysts and pundits that raised the question of if the U.K. would possibly join and/or at least back the Americans should they choose to execute a forced annexation of Greenland. Our response here at VEDA Communications is that it would be nothing short of stupidity for the government of the U.K. to even entertain such measures proposed by the Americans. It was reported that France has offered to send its military in support of the Greenlanders. There’re many things that can be said about the French military, but the one thing that everyone can agree on, is that their “pull out game” is strong.
