[Houston Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas homeless Mobile Care Day] the following is a press release that was provided to us from the office of Houston City Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas. With well over 4,000 Houstonians living on the streets of Houston and thousands more suffering from homelessness but may not be living on the streets, this initiative is spearheaded by Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas and is one that will provide some kind of relief to those afflicted.

“Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas will host her inaugural Mobile Care Day—an initiative designed to provide unhoused residents with access to showers, hygiene and personal care items, clothing, food, and other essential resources ahead of Resurrection Sunday weekend. In addition to meeting immediate needs, the event will connect individuals to services that support health, identification recovery, veteran benefits, social services, job information, and more.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the parking lot of The Church Without Walls – Eldridge 7500 Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX 77083. The District F HOT Team has secured five rental trucks to provide continuous transportation for up to 15 individuals from Agape Christian Fellowship Church.

Supported by a broad coalition of community partners and the District F Homelessness Task Force, the Community Shower is committed not only to providing care with dignity, but also to linking unhoused residents to long‑term pathways for stability and opportunity. The initiative was developed in response to the growing need for accessible hygiene services among Houston’s unhoused population. Attendees will receive free toiletries, clean clothing, supportive services, and a safe place to refresh.

“Providing showers and supplies is only one part of this work,” said Council Member Tiffany D.  Thomas. “This event is about delivering care with dignity while also connecting people to opportunity. When we meet basic needs and build bridges to resources, we support our neighbors in creating pathways to stability.”

Guests will check in through a simple intake process modeled after previous District F winter freeze outreach efforts. Personal belongings may be safely stored using a ticket‑and‑tag system designed to protect items and offer peace of mind. To better understand community needs, vendors will use a “passport” system to track service engagement across stations—helping District F identify which resources are most utilized and where additional support is needed. This year’s event expands beyond immediate care by intentionally connecting attendees to supportive services and opportunity pathways. Participants will have access to partners including:

  • Mayor’s Office of Veteran Affairs, offering veteran case management and haircuts;

  • Texas State Senator Borris Miles, District 13, will be coordinating state resources such as obtaining state IDs or driver’s licenses

  • WHAM, conducting Coordinated Entry screenings that begin the process of connecting families to the housing queue;

  • Healthcare for the Homeless, ACCESS Harris County, and Texas Health & Human Services, offering health services and benefit enrollment;

  • Workforce Solutions, providing job information and employment resources.
