[Houston Dash defeats Rayadas de Monterrey 4-0] Tuesday night's game between the Houston Dash and Mexico's Rayadas de Monterrey resulted in a bittersweet win that the Houston Dash desperately needed. On the one hand the Houston Dash were able to successfully defeat CF Monterrey 4-0; but the win is not a win that will reflect on their record. Despite that it was a great match to watch as both teams played well on the pitch at shell energy stadium. Tuesday night's international Friendly Match proved that the Houston Dash has what it takes to be a great team. The question is why hasn't the Houston dash been playing with the same intensity during their regular season games like they did last night?
With Rebeca Costa da Silva (Midfielder), Zoe Matthews (Defender), and Allysha Chapman (Defender) making their first appearances this year for the Houston Dash, fans of the Houston Dash seem to have something to look forward to as these new additions to the team brought a lot of excitement and optimism to the stadium last night. The Houston Dash scored the first point of the game in the 12th minute, followed by Avery Patterson who scored another goal for the Houston Dash soon after.
The excitement and morale significantly increased as Maggie Graham (Midfielder) scored the Dash's third goal at the 73rd minute of the match. The last goal was scored for the Houston Dash by Kiki Van Zanten at the 73 minute mark, and it was at that time the fans of the Houston Dash boiled over in the trance like ecstasy in the feeling of victory as it’s been a very long time since they have seen the Houston Dash play a game where all of the planets and the stars seemed to have aligned in their favor.
Mexico’s CF Monterrey played a good game, their goalie appeared to be solid, but their defense seemed to lack luster to say the least. CF Monterrey also seemed to have good team cohesion amongst the players. However, they did allow frustration to set in and get the best of them while facing off against the Houston Dash. If you’re a fan of NWSL friendly matches, then there's another friendly match that will be occurring on July 20th as the Houston Dash will be hosting the Carolina Ascent FC (USL Super League) at Houston Sports Park which is located at 12131 Kirby Dr, Houston, TX 77045; kick off is scheduled for 7pm.
The next regular season game for the Houston Dash will take place on the 2nd of August against the Bay FC in an away game; kick off starts at 9pm. The next home game for the Houston Dash won't take place until August 8th against the North Carolina Courage with kickoff starting at 7:00pm.
