[Houston Dynamo LAFC] Despite the Houston Dynamo being defeated by the LAFC last night, Houston Dynamo fans from around the world will agree that the Dynamo played an exceptional match that will be talked about for weeks. But the talk that you’ll most likely hear won't necessarily be from the perspective of player performance; but it will be because of what many Dynamo fans are calling a bogus call by the referee. With Houston Dynamo Defender Antônio Carlos receiving a red card for what officials are calling “violent conduct” (striking South Korean Son Heung-min Achilles heel) at the 56th minute of the match which led to him being banned for one game. Just when fans thought things couldn't get any worse, Midfielder Agustín Bouzat was also hit with a red card at the 76th minute of the game for allegedly “pulling” on Son Heung-min thus “depriving him of a goal-scoring opportunity”.
Through the demonstrated outrage of Houston Dynamo fans, LAFC was able to capitalize and exploit the Houston Dynamo being down two players. Looking at the stats, the LAFC led in terms of having 15 shots with six shots on target. They also had possession of the ball 71% of the time compared to the Dynamo possessing the ball 29% of the time. LAFC was able to execute 656 passes with a pass accuracy rate of 94%. The Dynamo executed 246 passes with a pass accuracy rate of 82%.
LAFC racked up 12 fouls, three yellow cards and no red cards. The Dynamo had eight fouls, one yellow card, and two red cards. The Dynamo had zero calls for being offsides while LAFC had four calls for being offsides. LAFC took eight corners while the Dynamo took four corners. This was a highly intense match which shook the Houston Dynamo winning streak from the preseason going into the regular season. The Dynamo’s next match-up is scheduled to be against New England, however that match is currently postponed.
