The War On Black Masculinity | The Firing of CNN Anchormen Don Lemon

Former CNN News Anchorman Don Lemon

American Black men are now fed up with not being able to be viewed as a man in the eyes of mainstream America. It seems that everywhere you look American Black Men all express at some point in their lives that they have to make themselves seem “smaller” and non-threatening in the eyes of the larger society. This is especially true when these same American Black Men are employed in Corporate America and just about anywhere else you either have to dress professionally and or have to be in what we like to call  “Socially Sensitive Situations/Areas” such as airports, police encounters, and academic institutions.

This compulsory double mindedness is what W.E.B. Dubois coined as the “Double Consciousness”. The notion of the Double Consciousness applies mainly to Black Americans but is expanded to other minorities that reside within the United States. It’s the idea that a Black Person has to consider the fact that they're “Black” and they have to consider the perception of what Non-Black People think of them at any given time - especially if there is White People around. Double Consciousness will manifest itself in the physical form by asserting the great social pressure of conformity from ones psyche to their physical ways and actions.

Proving our position is that Don Lemon, former Primetime Anchorman of CNN (Cable News Network also referred to as the “Cartoon News Network” by Gerald Celente of the Trends Research Institute) was fired today less than 2 hours to the date of this article. It was insinuated that his firing could have been due to his perceived insensitive comments over his span of employment at CNN; and especially his perceived insensitive comments about women as reported by David Goldman of CNN who stated:

He was widely criticized for sexist comments he made on "CNN This Morning" in February. During an on-air discussion about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley's proposal that older politicians take competency tests, Lemon argued that the 51-year-old Haley "isn't in her prime."

Lemon said a woman is only "considered to be in their prime in their 20s and 30s and maybe 40s." Co-anchors Harlow and Collins pushed back, but Lemon doubled down on his point.

Former CNN News Anchorman Don Lemon

The firing of Don Lemon and other men such as Tucker Carlson who is not Black projects the idea to not only their viewing audience and subscribers but to the world that America is in the business of destroying masculinity. But the intentional destruction of masculinity in America specifically puts Black American men in the crosshairs and all other men are to be considered collateral damage.
