[Oliver Power Grant Wu-Tang Clan dies] Oliver “Power” Grant founding member who was born on November 3, 1973, in Jamaica was member and initial co-investor of the greatest hip-hop group in history the Wu-Tang Clan has died of unreleased causes at the age of 52. While many see the Wu-Tang Clan as a hip-hop act, Oliver Grant (brother of Killarmy’s Killa Sin), Wu-Tang Members, affiliated artists, and dedicated fans view the Wu-Tang Clan as a movement. The nine-member super group Wu-Tang Clan was created in New York in 1992 with Oliver Grant and it led to him also creating hip-hop's first clothing line known as “Wu-Wear”. Wu-Wear was such an instant hit earning an estimated $25 million annually that it was bootlegged to the point Oliver Grant had to change the name of the clothing line to “Wu-Tang Brand” in 2008.

 

Besides being a founding member, early co-investor, and creator of the Wu-Tang Clan and it’s clothing line, Oliver Grant was also an Actor and Producer for music, film and video games. Playing roles in as many as 7 films which consisted of “An Imperfect Murder” (2017), “Queen of Media” (2011), “Coalition” (2004), “When Will I Be Loved” (2004), “Fast Forward” (2002), “Black & White” (1999), and the blockbuster hit “Belly” (1998). Oliver Grant was also portrayed by Actor Marcus Callender in the Hulu series entitled “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”. On the music side, Oliver Grant was named as Executive Producer on nearly all Wu-Tang Clan albums. In terms of video games, Oliver Grant also played a vital role in the production of “Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style” which was released in 1999 on Sony’s PlayStation and developed by Paradox Development and published by Activision.

Oliver Grant is remembered not only for ability to execute on the visions that he had for the Wu-Tang Clan, but he is even more remembered and revered for his entrepreneurial spirit which transformed him into not only an icon and mogul in the world of hip-hop and fashion, but a master when it comes to marketing and branding. Oliver Grant would be the second Wu-Tang Clan member to succumb to death after Ol’ Dirty Bastard whose real name is Russell Tyrone Jones who was born on November 15, 1968, and died on November 13, 2004.
