[Free speech Monica Meeks Yezbak Law Offices Arnetta Murry] With so much happening today and around the world, especially in America, many Americans are wondering if the notion of Free Speech is declining. Sure, the 1st Amendment exists, but again for many Americans it seems that it only exists on paper. Take the American workforce for example. There have been reported cases in which people have been fired from their place of employment because they chose to engage in what is supposed to be their god given American right to exercise Free Speech; but when they do, they only seem to find themselves retaliated against in the workplace and in most cases fired.
Just a few days ago it was reported on the website “thefire.org” where a Tennessee employee by the name of Monica Meeks who happens to have been a retired U.S. Military Combat Veteran was fired from her job as an employee of the state after posting comments on social media about Charlie Kirk. After her firing thefire.org in conjunction with the Yezbak Law Offices sued the Tennessee Commissioner of Commerce and Insurance on her behalf for an undisclosed amount.

It has been established by courts across the United States that the application of the 1st Amendment of Free Speech can only be applied to protecting American citizens against government censorship and is considered completely null and void in the civilian or private sector. It is this gray area that has so many Americans agitated to the point that they feel as if they can't “trust” the government that presides over them when it comes to protecting what is known as their “unalienable rights”.
But there could be a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel for all Americans if they are willing to take the timeout to address this social issues amongst the entire other host of social issues that they face in America, and that means taking the time out to amend the Amendments such as the 1st Amendment so that it can be equally applied across all sectors of the American way of life.
