There's a lot that can be said of the long list of tariffs American President Trump displayed today (5 hours ago) which are set to be put into effect at 12 midnight tonight. For some people and private businesses, they see it as a good thing. For them it's about time that the leveling of the playing field in the world of business and economics occurred. For others, especially geo-political pundits and analysts, President Trump is considered to be not only a dollar short, but a minute too late.
For those in favor of what has become known to the world as "Trump Tariffs " or "Reciprocal Tariffs", the implementation of Reciprocal Tariffs will add unprecedented income into the pockets of the American government and ultimately will do the country good by allowing America to pay down both the interest and principal on its loans and it’s federal deficits. In addition to that, those who are in favor of President Trump Reciprocal Tariffs simply think that it's just time for other countries around the world to "pay their fair share”. Those that are also in favor of President Trump's Reciprocal Tariffs also hold the position that his Reciprocal Tariffs will protect American jobs, American industries and American workers.
However, if President Trump is considered to be both “a dollar short and a minute late", then that means that the geo-political and geo-economic balance of the world is at stake. If history has shown us anything, it has shown us that protectionism and the policies that stem from it doesn’t work, over time and in the little times that has worked; there were almost always unintended consequences that came along with it. Adam Smith’s notion of the “Hidden Hand” of the Free Market will always prevail. No matter how you feel about it, President Trump's Reciprocal Tariffs will take effect tonight at 12 midnight. With that being said, we’ve decided to publish the complete list of President Trump's "Reciprocal Tariffs" below.
