On Saturday, detractors of the Trump Administration amassed at Houston City Hall to demonstrate and protest their anger and frustrations with the policies of the Trump Administration. This protest was organized by what is known as the 50501 Movement, a national organized but decentralized community of protestors that are fulfilling their promise to execute 50 protests in 50 states under one cause. Political detractors, city leaders, Communist Activists and concerned residents collaborated to not only bring awareness to the highly controversial actions and rhetoric coming from the Trump Administration but also the actions of the Trump Administration. Protestors in unison held signs condemning President Trump’s illegal war of choice on Iran, as well as protestors expressing their anger for the ongoing genocidal war spearheaded by Israel against the people of Palestine.

The issue of immigration and hardline criticisms of America's immigration and customs enforcement better known as ICE was also pushed to the forefront during the 4-hour protest. Aside governmental reach, another element that was addressed was what many protestors called “an unfair advantage” in terms of influence that billionaires play in the federal government. Protestors and activists also made it a point to demand that the Trump Administration do a better job of providing social services to American citizens. This comes at a time when federal financial cuts have wreaked havoc in the Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and public education sectors.

[50501 Movement No Kings Trump Houston] Houston wasn’t the only city that engaged in protest. Other cities native to Texas such as Galveston, the Woodlands, Conroe, Sugar Land, Pearland, and Katy also had their dose of federal detractors, community activists, demonstrators, and protest at their city centers. It’s been a widely predicted and accepted idea that more 50501 movement protests will continue to occur across America as the temperature rises into the summer months. It should be noted that although protests organized by the 50501 movement have been largely peaceful, fears of civil unrest have been starting to increase amongst Americans as employment opportunities appear to become even slimmer the more time passes.

This in conjunction with rising cost and inflation also seem to be fanning the flames of fear, socio-economic instability, and employment uncertainty amongst Americans in every demographic. With Black Americans bearing the brunt of socio-economic misfortune, many political analysts perceive Black Americans to be the “cannery in the coal mine” when it comes to indicating and forecasting on what negative impacts should be expected when it comes to American society.
