[Israel targeted killing of Anas al-Sharif] the targeted killing of 5 Al-Jazeera journalist and two other freelance journalists by Israel has caused outrage within the international community. This time instead of denying the targeted  killing Israel confirmed that it did in fact engage in the targeted killing of world-renowned journalists Anas al-Sharif, Mohamed Qureiqa, Moamen Aliwa, Mohammed Noufal, and Ibrahim Zaher. They were killed by an aerial strike on their tent near the Gaza City Hospital in Gaza. The reason for the targeted killing of Anas al-Sharif according to Israel was because Anas al-Sharif “served as the head of a terrorist cell in Hamas”. According to reports this was not the first time Anas al-Sharif has had a run in with the IDF, previously he has denied any and all allegations of being a part of Hamas. But despite that and the targeted killing of him and other journalists, Israel has provided no evidence that he apart of Hamas.

Israel has reported that Anas al-Sharif was in possession of the names, salaries, and phone numbers to members of Hamas, however, even if this is true, it is often considered standard practice for journalists all over the world to establish and keep a record of sources for reporting purposes. Prime Minister Kier Starmer of the United Kingdom has demanded that an independent investigation be conducted into the deaths of the journalist due to Israel’s targeted killing.

Al-Jazeera released the following statement:

“Anas and his colleagues were among the last remaining voices from within Gaza, providing the world with unfiltered, on-the ground coverage of the devastating realities endured by it’s people.”

Many people, human rights organizations, and international committees view the previous and recent targeted killing of journalists in Gaza as an Israeli plan to suppress the truth and keep the world blind to the war crimes that it is conducting in Gaza. Israel denies such perspectives and insists that it’s fighting a war to “rid the world of Hamas”.

OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS

The targeted killing of not only this recent set of journalists in Gaza, but journalists throughout the war since October 7th is nothing short of being breath-taking obvious to what lengths Israel will go in order to execute its war of genocide on the people of Gaza. The suppression of information by the killing members of the press is nothing new when it comes to Israel. While the press and human rights organizations have expressed outrage – none thus far have any means or have appeared to put any effort in gathering the means to physically do something about the barbaric actions of Israel.

Even if Anas al-Sharif severed in some capacity to Hamas (which there are no indications that he did), the fact that Israel executed the strike with disregard to the lives of other people speaks volumes. This also demonstrates Israel's ability and willingness to also disregard risk assessments and their ability to chalk the death of Anas al-Sharif colleagues as nothing more than collateral damage. In America where conceal carry is legal in most states, people who use a firearm in self-defense are held liable for any potential damages and loss of life via civil suits and even jail/prison time if the rounds expelled from their firearm damage property adversely affects someone else – even if they are shooting in defense of their own lives.

Granted these are press and human rights organizations and not military entities, but there must be something that they (we) can do as a collective to deal a death blow to Israel because of their actions against not only the people of Palestine, but for the killing of agents of the press. One such measure we believe the press and human rights organizations can do is to redirect pressure from Israel and to our prospective governments to apply draconian sanctions on the state of Israel. What we mean by this is that press and human rights agencies should apply so much pressure on their perspective governments and demand that their governments cease and desist all trade, communications, and diplomatic relations with Israel to the point that Israel collapses and becomes so embroiled in socio-economic isolation and destitute that Israel as a state faces the brink of extinction in the modern world itself.
