[ISRAEL ELECTION BENJAMIN NETANYAHU GADI EISENKOT] With several days needed to accurately count the votes casted by Israeli citizens, it appears that 77-year-old Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government has a slight lead in the polls. While his party does hold a slight lead, there is no clear indication that he and his party will secure enough votes to secure a victory over 66-year-old opponent former military chief Gadi Eisenkot. The former Israeli military chief has made claims that the reason Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is so adamant about winning this election is because he is trying to evade prosecution by the Israeli judicial system.
Currently only 50% t0 70% of the casted ballots have been counted and for either candidate to win this election as in the past, they would need to obtain 61 seats of the 120 seats within the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's slight lead in the polls, Arab participation within the Israeli voting process has been surging in record breaking numbers to the tune of 80%. This is due to Prime Minister Benjamine Netanyahu ‘s war of genocide on the people of Palestine specifically Gaza, as well the animosity towards the greater Israel expansion project.
At the moment there is no clear winner for this election, but political analysts are suspecting that there is a high probability that prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be able to win this election by a very slim margin despite his low approval number amongst Israeli citizens. Rhetoric projected by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is centered around convincing Israelis that Iran is an existential threat that should be stopped while evidence shows the contrary. His political opponent Gadi Eisenkot made the claim that “Netanyahu is a caretaker Prime Minister, without a mandate or the people's trust.” This comment was made because of the notion that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was providing intelligence on the likelihood of Hamas executing an attack on October 7, 2022, and failed to proactively shield Israel against that attack.
