[MARCO RUBIO SANCTIONS ICC ARREST WARRANT BENJAMIN NETANYAHU] With the International Criminal Court (ICC) rendering a warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to being indicted on various war crimes against humanity, specifically against the people Palestine, American Secretary of State Marco Rubio in retaliation has placed sanctions on ICC President Tomoko Akane and Senior Trial Attorney Abdoulaye Seye. Secretary Marco Rubio defended the application of sanctions on two of the highest-ranking officials of the ICC due to what he called a “corrupt and fatally politicized supranational court that has maliciously abused its authority and exceeded its mandate.”

The ICC’s decision to issue a warrant for the arrest of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t stop there. The ICC has also issued an arrest warrant for former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for committing crimes against humanity as well. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the ICC a “Kangaroo Court” during several Press conferences. Supporting the perspective of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump and his administration expressed condemnation of the warrants issued for the arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant by the ICC.

Governments, Geopolitical Analyst, and Political Commentators within the international community are and have been severely questioning the legitimacy of the ICC due to both its inability to enforce any of its warrants and rulings as well as it appearing to selectively target African nations and other underdeveloped countries which tend to consist of people of color. Supporting this shift in perspective when it comes to international justice, the African nations that make up the Sahel region of Africa have all withdrawn from under the jurisdiction and authority of the ICC. Adding insult to injury Russia and the southeast Asian country of the Philippines have also rejected the authority and jurisdiction of the ICC.
