[President Donald Trump Washington D.C.] while residents of Washington D.C. amass together in protest of President Donald Trump’s takeover of the Capital Police and the deployment of national guard troops on the ground, President Trump stated that he plans to “rescue D.C. from bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor”. Many D.C. residents who oppose President Trumps plans appear to be not only sympathetic amongst each other, but sympathetic to the homeless people who are a part of the Washington D.C. population. According to President Trump referencing homeless D.C. residents “[they] have to move out immediately.” “We will give you places to stay, but far from the capitol.”
Many people around the nation perceive President Trump’s remarks as "insensitive"; but despite that President Trump insist that he’s doing what best for the residents of Washington D.C. currently, in order to address the homeless population President Trump is preparing to send D.C. homeless to shelters and jail as part of his D.C. clean up campaign. However, skeptics believe that this will do nothing but ultimately lead to overcrowded jails, the dwindling down of social service resources, and the funding required to keep places like shelters open for residents. It was reported that homelessness in D.C. has fell 9% prior to President Trump taking any action. Currently there are 15,000 homeless people in Washington D.C. and an estimated 15% of them actually live on the streets.
So, the question that many Americans have is: “Why is President Trump cracking down on as measly 4,000 people when there are much more pressing issues in America like underemployment and unemployment?". With no secure answer to address this man, Americans are turning to the notion that the recent actions of President Trump are nothing but a ploy to test to see whether he can deploy the same tactics to other major places in America like L.A., Houston, New York, and Chicago. If true, President Trump’s action would be dead on arrival as Washington D.C. is not a city but a District. And since Washington D.C. is a District and not a state, President Trump is not only God in D.C., but he is a God to be reckoned with.
Contrary to President Trump believing in his draconian actions on tackling crime in Washington D.C., studies show that crime is down to a 3 year low in Washington D.C. exactly where President Trump obtain the data that “bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor” is running rampant in Washington D.C. is still currently unknown. But the federalizing of the D.C. Police and the deployment of the National Guard are not the only issues that lie on the table. Business owners are already feeling their pockets getting thin. With the joint influx of Homeland Security, FBI, DEA, Secret Service, and other federal law enforcement agencies patrolling the streets at night, it has kept many Washington D.C. from going out to local restaurants, clubs, and bars.
OUR POSITION AT VEDA WORLD NEWS
For one to want to do something about crime and homelessness is noble idea, but like anything in life there’s a way to do. Our position is not about authoritarianism or dictatorship. Our position is centered around simple economics. Jails cost money, social services cost money, shelters cost money; so, where exactly is all the funding for these entities going to come from? People in America’s are already financially unstable due to inflation, President Trump reciprocal tariffs, the lack of well-paying jobs, and the rising cost of housing. Government and institutions don’t pay because they don’t engage in labor – people pay people engage in labor. Our prediction is that living in Washington D.C. is about to get not only complex, but even more expensive.
Granted currently President Trump can only keep this up for 30 days, however, he is looking to create bills and legislation to circumvent that; and that’s what makes this situation socio-economically dangerous, not to mention demoralizing for the residents of Washington D.C. the truth of the matter is we will always have homeless people due to how the American system is constructed. But how do we deal with social issues such as homelessness and crime matters.
