[President Trump President Xi Jinping meet China] With American President Donald Trump meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. There appears to be a lot at stake during the course of today's meeting. From the addressing of America selling arms to Taiwan and filing to honor the “One China Policy” to the joint war of choice and aggression from Israel and America towards Iran, geopolitical analysts worry that many of the concessions needed to reverse the downward trend of diplomatic relations between the mentioned countries do not materialize into anything worth noticing. With President Trump being the first American President to visit China for the second time since 2017, in conjunction with all the geopolitical woes that are at stake, a high-stakes geopolitical game will be taking place today between the two world leaders.
The question of whether President Trump and Jinping can reset the political and diplomatic framework between each other is something that’s on everyone's mind. With President Trump being largely unpredictable in his approach to political matters and with President Jinping being the opposite, there are some that believe that both Presidents will think that they will outsmart each other to some degree or another. In the case of President trump, it's most likely that he will perceive President Jinping predictability as a weakness, while President Jinping may perceive President Trump unpredictable political nature as him being “unstable” and “unreliable”.
A prime case in point would be how President Trump handled China during last year’s trade war when at one point tariffs between the two countries spiked well over 100% to the point that President Jinping saw no point in engaging in trade with America, then President Trump capitulated his position when it came to applying reciprocal tariffs on Chinese goods, products, and services to a large degree. Then as of late, President Trump again reengaged China with the applying of a fresh round of sanctions on Chinese companies and firms due to them allegedly aiding Iran with various weapons and drone technologies.
Will President Jinping take President Trump during his visit today? The answer could be both yes and no. yes because President Trump is a head a state and it customary for heads of state to be treated lavishly when they visit another head of state from another country; but China also does want to willingly provide President Trump with any weapons that could be later used to justify the weaponization of sanctions and tariffs on China which would cause a disruption it’s supply China model. It's highly suspected that President Trump will be President Trump; being loud and full of bravado while taking the credit for things that he felt he may have done to make relations between China and America positive – even if he’s done nothing at all.
Other things on today's agenda between the two leaders will be China’s purchasing of gas and oil from Iran as well as human rights and political detainees, regional security, technology and Artificial Intelligence, critical materials, and economic trade between the two countries.
