[President Vladimir Putin Russian Future Technologies Forum] Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian future technologies forum to address the future of the global economy, agriculture, and healthcare when it comes to providing solutions for an ever-changing world. Another topic that President Putin touched on during his 20-minute speech was the necessity of understanding the monumental role biotechnology will play in both enhancing and prolonging the lives of humans internationally. Artificial Intelligence was also a topic of discussion.
It was also announced during his speech that the Russian government will be launching a national project for the bioeconomy with the main goal of ensuring “sovereignty in a number of critical areas and to improve our positions and achieve leadership in some areas”. He also went on to state to attendees of the forum that “this program should be reflected in the policy documents defining the tasks for the food and biosecurity of Russia as well as tasks for systematic development of healthcare, energy, agriculture, industry, and other areas”.
The Russian government is looking to limit or reduce the number of restrictive measures on private businesses that stifle the necessary creation and development required to bring about the innovation required to propel Russia to the forefront of this global project. President Putin hinted that the Russian government would offer subsidies to the tune of $500 billion to support private businesses that meet the goals of the Russian government's endeavors. Moreover, President Putin stated that Russia will be looking to collaborate with their “closest neighbors” to facilitate various scientific breakthroughs.
