[Putin creation Global Russian Language Center] While it was once said that the Russian language is like looking at all the buttons on a scientific calculator that you will never press, it looks like Russian President Vladimir Putin is looking to change that. President Putin is seeking to change that by supporting a global Russian language organization whose aim is to educate the world on the Russian language by offering language courses, but by also educating the world on Russian culture and  the Russian perspective on an international basis. The creation of a global Russian language center comes from the mind of the Warden of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute Nikita Gusev.

During the meeting of the Russian State Council on Language Promotion President Putin hailed Nikita Gusev’s idea as a great one immediately instructed his administration to embark on the project even though the push for a global Russian language and culture program has been in the works. President Putin stated:

“One of the most effective ways to promote the Russian language and literature, both within our country and abroad, is through meaningful and wide-ranging celebrations of significant anniversaries linked to great Russian writers.”

With an estimated 255 million Russian speaking people in the world and growing, the combined efforts of President Putin, the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute under the leadership of Nikita Gusev, and the growing number of people around the world who are interested in both the Russian language and culture; this initiative will prove to be successful. The Pushkin State Russian Language Institute is named after 19th century Russian poet, playwright, and novelist Aleksandr Pushkin. It should be noted that Aleksandr Pushkin is considered by most Russians to be the founder of Russian modern literature.
