[RUSSIAN CITIZEN FIVE EYES INTELLIGENCE] The Russian FSB (Federal Security Service) recently reported to the Press that a Russian citizen was responsible for selling secret Russian government “information that can be used to harm Russian security” to a member of the international western spy conglomerate Five Eyes in New Zealand. While the suspect has not been publicly named, it has been revealed that the suspect is in his mid-50’s and is a resident of the Russian eastern region of Khabarovsk. The joint international spy network was created during World War II and consists of the New Zealand, United States, Australia, United Kingdom, and Canada.
Russian counter-espionage authorities revealed that the New Zealand branch of the Five Eyes were “interested in classified information regarding military cooperation with nations in the Asia-Pacific region.” It appears that the suspect involved was exploited by the intelligence gathering group due to his declining financial situation. It was reported that upon a raid on his residence that there were thousands of U.S. dollars in his possession.
If convicted, the suspect will be convicted of “High Treason” and espionage against the Russian government, and it carries the penalty of 12 to 20 years in prison or can entail life in prison along with fines.
