[Houston Climate Change community event] With the social, geopolitical, commercial, and environmental impact of climate change affecting everyone around the world, Texas state and community leaders as well as Climate Change advocates in Houston, Texas are calling for action this coming Saturday as they hold and take part in a hearing that will allow attendees to voice their concern and highlight how climate change have adversely impacted them. Various Houston based organizations along with Houston City Council Member Tiffany Thomas and City Controller Christopher Hollins are scheduled to be in attendance. With hurricane season quickly approaching, Houston residents are already expressing concern of “dangerous and deadly weather” which tends to result in heavy flooding and destruction within the City of Houston and the Greater Houston area. This community event will be held at the DeLUXE Theatre, 3303 Lyons Ave, Houston, Tx 77020 at 2pm and will conclude at 4pm.

“Texans are Not Expendable: People’s Hearing Will Showcase Local Stories of the Impacts of Climate Change, Extreme Weather Community members, environmental advocates, and public health experts will share with local leaders their first-hand experiences with extreme weather and how weakened protections put Houstonians at risk Houston, Texas — On Saturday, May 30, U.S. Representative Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), State Senator Molly Cook, City Councilmember Tiffany Thomas, City Controller Christopher Hollins, and other local leaders will join the Climate Action Campaign and Texas partners for an Extreme Weather People’s Hearing. The event will highlight how climate change is fueling more dangerous and deadly extreme weather, threatening the lives and livelihoods of Houston residents. Residents, small business owners, environmental advocates, and public health experts will share their experiences with extreme heat, hurricanes, and floods, and how Trump’s Polluters First Agenda and rollbacks of key pollution protections have put communities in harm’s way. This event will be livestreamed; the link to join will be sent out ahead of the event.
